3 Years Old – Information and Schedule

STEP #2 - Select Student Skill Level
Level 1

Level 1 (Beginner)  •  3 years old  •  Information

Details:

Level 1 Beginners will take important steps on their wonderful journey towards confidence in the water!  Students learn necessary foundational skills, but also build trust in their instructor and learn to focus on their lesson.  Fun is a key ingredient and celebration of each success is part of the magic!

This is the correct skill level class if your student's swimming skills can be described by at least two of the following statements:

  • Students with no prior lessons
  • Students that have little or no experience putting their face/head under the water
  • Students that are not yet able to swim any distance or are able to swim a few feet with their head above water (without the aid of flotation devices)

Skills Acquired:

  • Front float (unassisted) and back float (assisted)
  • Pick up submerged object at 2-3 feet deep
  • Kick with noodle and kickboard (assisted)
  • Kick on back holding kickboard
  • Hold breath with face under water for 3 seconds
  • Swim at least 2 feet with head and face in the water.

Level 1.5

Level 1.5 (Beginner Plus)  •  3 years old  •  Information

Details:

Level 1.5 "Beginner Plus" classes are a bridge for 3 year-olds from beginner to the intermediate level.  Students will start to learn simple "drills" to build muscle memory and important body positioning.  Creativity keeps lessons fun and this is when our students really start to show off their new skills!

This is the correct skill level class if your student's swimming skills can be described by at least two of the following statements:

  • Students with some swim lesson experience
  • Students that have completed our Level 1 class
  • Students that have a good comfort level with their face in the water for at least 3 seconds.
  • Students can float on their back (assisted)
  • Students that are able to swim at least 2 feet (unassisted without no flotation devices)

Skills Acquired:

  • Swim at least 8 feet unassisted with no flotation device
  • Roll from back to tummy
  • Blow bubbles with head under the water
  • Swim with arms and legs
  • Pop up off bottom
  • Jump in and swim to side

Level 1.5 (Beginner Plus)  •  3 years old  •  Step #3 – Schedule Class

Level 2

Level 2 (Intermediate) •  3 years old  •  Information

Details:

Level 2 Intermediate classes develop "pool safety" skills while preparing your student for the advanced classes.  "Drills" build swimming skills.  Students can begin to have more fun outside of class by repeating their "drills" and any available time between lessons can be very productive.  Celebrate with your student as they develop confidence and explore their new independence in the water!

This is the correct skill level class if your student's swimming skills can be described by at least two of the following statements:

  • Swimmer is able to swim 8 or more feet unassisted using arms and legs
  • Student is able to jump in and swim to the side
  • Student is very comfortable floating on their back unassisted
  • Student is able to move through the water on their back with or without a kickboard

Skills Acquired:

  • Swim 30+ feet
  • Get breath while swimming using big arms or breaststroke arms
  • Roll onto back and get a breath and/or pick up head to get a breath
  • Body Dolphin
  • Backstroke arm movements with kick

Level 2 (Intermediate)  •  3 years old  •  Step #3 – Schedule Class
