Our Birth

As a masters swimmer for FASST, Pat DeLange (owner) competed in the 40+ age group and medaled at the State meet in Freestyle and Backstroke.  FASST approached Pat to become one of their coaches.  She began coaching the winter swim clinics at the FISD natatorium.  By the summer of 2006 a close friend suggested she offer private lessons to teach children to swim, because of her background in swimming, coaching, lifeguarding, competition, and her passion for creative work with children. Pat loved the idea! At the time she had taken a job as a paraprofessional at Corbell elementary school, and thought that teaching swimming in the summers would be the perfect compliment to her work in Special Education at Corbell.  “I just worked about 3 to 4 hours a day doing private lessons that first summer of 2006 at The Trails of West Frisco main pool.  I was teaching about 8 students per week.”

Two Years Later

Outgrowing The Trails pool, and desiring a more private setting, Pat took the leap and made the investment in a 9 foot deep pool in her backyard.   With over 30 students a week, FriscoSwim was expanding!  Pat had taken a job teaching special needs children at Fisher Elementary, and would come home from work at night and give swim lessons until 8pm trying to keep up with her growing demand!

Another Step Ahead

3 years in, Pat had more students than she could handle alone!  It was a big decision, but she knew the addition of talented instructors, trained in her specialized techniques, would help FriscoSwim expand yet again.  With more than 70 students each week FriscoSwim’s popularity was growing. “Parents would see my 3 and 4 year-old students swimming across the pool and would ask their parents where their child learned.  Our customers got the word out about FriscoSwim!”  Pat was thrilled to bring on board top instructors with great experience, and parents would come back the next year asking for their favorite instructor.

5 Years and Counting

With more than 100 students a week, FriscoSwim was becoming known for top instructors, accelerated learning and fun!  This year marked the addition of Fall and Winter indoor classes at The Colony Aquatic Center.  FriscoSwim was now able to provide learning for students preparing for off-season swim team participation and for building skills year-round.

Our Mission

From our very first lesson, our commitment has been to provide our customers with excellent and affordable swim lessons. You can find lessons at lower prices. But, this is how one of our customers explains it: “after 2 lessons at FriscoSwim, I can already see the difference”. Your student will learn to swim using our unique individualized teaching methods that target each swimmer’s skill level and natural ability. Our classes are small. All kid’s classes (3-years-old and up) have a maximum class size of 3 students. Beginner and Intermediate classes with 3 students have 2 instructors so that we are constantly able to provide individual attention for accelerated learning. Our instructors have extensive experience and training in our special methods. They all are FriscoSwim instructors because they love to teach swimming and because they love kids.

Our Commitment

We take our business very seriously.  Our passion for teaching and our dedication to providing you with service that is second to none is why we are members of the United States Swim School Association. For more information please visit http://www.usswimschools.org/.
